Announing the OntarioWineReview Pinot Noir Challenge

What:

It’s time to pick the best Pinot Noir. Join the Grape Guy, Michael Pinkus, over the course of four nights in February (Feb. 4, 12, 16, & 23), as we try to figure out who is making the best Pinot Noir in Ontario.

We’ll convene at Campbell House Museum in downtown Toronto, where over the course of 4 nights we’ll taste over 40 different Pinot Noirs from more than 30 different Ontario wineries. The wines will be broken down into Vintage categories: 2006, 2007 and other - each night we’ll sample between up to 10 different wines. Tasting will be done blind (you’ll know the category but not the producer). Then, each taster will decide, based on a scale from 1 to 10, the following criteria: 1) do you like it; 2) would you buy it and 3) is it good value. There will also be a brief talk about Pinot Noir, it's history and future in Ontario.

This is not a reviewers challenge, it is a people's challenge - your votes and feedback will determine Ontario's Best Cabernet Franc.

Afterward we’ll mix and mingle in the historic Campbell Kitchen where a roaring fire will keep us warm – there’ll be coffee and dessert, plus a whole lot more: Raymond Emes is back to pour some of his amazing coffees from around the world and this year we’ll be tasting out of Schotts Zweisel stemware.
